Basic Information:
- In the front yard of each of our homes, there is a City water meter for each home and one or more irrigation head that put water on the lawn during the growing season.
- If you iswnridy an apparent leak, attempt to determine if the water appearsto be coming from the location of an irrigation head or close to the water meter.
- If the leak appears to be coming from the location of an irrigation head, contact our Property Management Company and provide them with the nature and specific location of the problem.
- The City waterline which provides water to each home is subject to developing leaks on either side of the actual water meter.
- Leaks on the house side of the meter the City generally considers to be the responsibility of the homeowner.
- Leaks on the street side of the meter are the City’s responsibility and they will fix them.
- The irrigation system water is supplied by separate water meters located throughout the community the bills for which are paid by the HOA.
- Things to consider:
- Water leaks associated with the City water system are most likely to occur when the temperature changes significantly – generally a DECREASE in temperature.
- The irrigation system is shut down each year from the endofthe growing season (i.e., generally in October) and the beginningof the Spring growing season (i.e., generally in March). So, if you see what appears to be a water leak during the time that the irrigation system is shut down, you should immediately notify the City Water Department.
